Why Wanting More Doesn't Make You Less Spiritual
Dear Evolving Reader,
The more spiritual you become, the more you can start to question your desire for more. You start wondering whether wanting money, success, love or beautiful things means you haven't evolved enough…
The spiritual path takes you on a journey where you learn to detach from your circumstances. You realise you are not your possessions, your bank account, your relationship status, your achievements or even your thoughts. You start to see how easily the physical world can become an identity, and how dangerous it is to make something outside of you responsible for telling you who you are.
There is another stage that comes after this.
Because eventually, you have to come back to being human. Not back to unconsciousness, but back to fully participating in life. You realise you didn't come here to escape the physical world. You came here to experience it without being imprisoned by it.
This is something I have been thinking about deeply in relation to the work we do inside Samara Universe. So much of what we explore is not about becoming detached from the life you want. It is about becoming deeply, internally connected enough that you can create it without losing yourself in the process.
There is a subtle trap in spirituality where detachment can become another identity. You can become attached to being the person who doesn't care about money, doesn't want material things and is "above" ambition. In some cases, that is genuine freedom. But sometimes it is simply fear wearing spiritual language; because if you don't want anything, you don't have to risk disappointment. If you don't pursue anything, you don't have to risk failure.
Real non-attachment isn't about wanting nothing. It is about no longer needing what you want to determine the state of your inner world. You can want the extraordinary relationship, the beautiful home, the successful business, the money, the travel, the experiences. You can want more for your life and still know that none of it makes you more worthy than you were before you had it.
This is where I have started to see desire differently... What if desire isn't something to overcome, but information about where you are being called to expand? A genuine desire can reveal a version of you that is asking to emerge. The thing itself may not be the transformation. It is who you have to become to create, receive and sustain it.
I see this over and over again through the transformations of our clients: not only getting to witness them, but getting to be part of the process. The next level will ask more of you! Greater capacity, greater emotional maturity, greater trust in your intuition. The life you say you want requires you to become someone who can actually hold it.
This is why the work isn't simply about manifesting a dream life. It is about becoming deeply connected to yourself while you create one. Because what would be the point of achieving everything you wanted if you had abandoned yourself somewhere along the way?
The deepest form of spirituality, to me, isn't leaving the physical world behind. It's returning to it from a place of greater consciousness. You still want things. You still have ambitions. You still get to enjoy beautiful experiences. But you no longer need the physical world to tell you who you are. You can stay connected to yourself, connected to something greater, and still fully participate in this human experience.
You don't have to choose between consciousness and ambition. You don't have to choose between inner peace and wanting an extraordinary life. You can have both.
Spirituality isn't about having less so that you can become more divine. It is remembering that you are divine while fully experiencing having!
