Why your manifesting isn't working
Dear Evolving Reader,
One of the questions we're asked often is: "Why isn't my manifestation coming true?" It's easy to assume the answer is that we're missing another strategy. That there is something incorrect with our affirmations, strategy or vision board. But over the years, I've become far more interested in a different question. What if it's not about what you're doing, but what you believe you're worthy of receiving?
When I first got into self-improvement, I was about eleven years old. For the first few years, I managed to dodge the whole self-love trope that seemed to dominate the industry at the time. Self-love was everywhere. It was the buzzword of self-development for a while. Truthfully, the idea of loving myself made me cringe. I’m not exaggerating when I say that even the thought of it made my stomach turn.
So I avoided it. Instead, I found comfort in discipline. The David Goggins approach to self-mastery made far more sense to me. Push further, work harder, become mentally stronger. It felt measurable and productive; and for a while, it worked. My mental fortitude was a force to be reckoned with. Eventually, I reached an internal plateau where no amount of discipline seemed capable of taking me any further. I had reached the point where I couldn't outwork the relationship I had with myself. That was the moment everything had to change again...
As I reluctantly explored the very thing I'd been avoiding, I realised self-love wasn't simply about positive affirmations or feeling good about yourself: it was about worthiness. This is where we begin to answer the topic that began today's conversation. We know that our external world reflects our internal world, but the layer that's overlooked is our sense of worthiness. Because if we have to become an energetic match for the life we're trying to create, yet deep down we don't believe we're worthy of receiving it, then we're asking reality to give us something our own subconscious cannot accept.
One of our lovely clients is a beautiful case study of this. She came to us believing she needed to make more money. On paper, she'd already built a successful business, created financial security and achieved goals many people aspire to. Yet she couldn't enjoy any of it... As we peeled back the layers, we realised money was never the problem, her worthiness was! The story she kept telling herself was, "When I make more money, then I'll relax. Then I'll enjoy my life.' Except she already had enough. What she lacked wasn't financial success. It was permission to receive it.
This client's experience changes the way we should approach achievement. A multitude of people believe achievement creates worthiness; it is often the other way around.
Worthiness is what allows us to fully receive achievement!
We move the goalposts, struggle to celebrate our wins or find ourselves sabotaging opportunities that we've worked so hard to create. When it's easier to keep chasing than it is to receive, then we know we have some matter to deal with.
This week's podcast explores this notion in depth and asks a question we should all sit with; Do you truly believe you're worthy of receiving the life you're working so hard to create? The first answer you hear may come from your mind. The second one, the one that matters most, comes from the stories you've been living by.
